I started this creative journey some time ago. First, letting my mind visualize my heroes, then my villains. I dug through my life experiences, in my career, as a parent and as a wife, piecing together plots and twists. Some from memories, some from imagination. I added in hooks, cliff hangers, danger and life.
When I thought I had constructed the perfect masterpiece. Pages full of literary genius, I “selected all” and hit the delete button. From there I started reading some of my favorite thriller and suspense books. I researched my topic and made contacts with people who could advise me along the way. I spent months researching my settings, my subject matter, and growing my characters.
I took masterclasses, watched YouTube videos, joined online forums. Then I started writing again. It took three months to finish my second revision. Another month for the third. I sent copies to friends and fellow writers for feedback. Meanwhile, I dug into all things publishing.
Even with all that knowledge and research, I got scammed. Big time. Luckily, I caught it early and recouped most of my loss. Then I dove in and did the work. I paid the dues and took no shortcuts. So, a week before my book one of the Crane & Harris series: Two Skeletons; One Closet, was set to launch, I am starting the editing process over.
I am hoping to present to you a polished, one of a kind novel by the end of the month. It’s been a long time coming, literal blood, sweat and tears, but soon you will meet my heroes, and my villains.
